Briar attends Alabama State Championships at East Alabama

Briar Cheatham returned to action on Friday evening at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) for Alabama State Championships weekend.

Only competing in his Street Stock on Friday, Cheatham secured his spot into Saturday’s main event with a seventh-place finish in his heat.

For his Street Stock feature and Crate Late Model prelims on Saturday, Briar qualified seventh-fastest in his Crate Racin’ USA sanctioned time trial group before placing 10th in his heat. During the same night for the Street Stock feature, Cheatham was an early retiree on lap six.

Buried deep in his B-Main on Saturday for one last shot at the $10,000-to-win Alabama State Championship finale, Cheatham fell short of a transfer spot but capped off the weekend with a 12th-to-6th showing in the consolation event.
